Principal's Message

Welcome to West Middle School!  West Middle School (WMS) is an excellent school with a history of high academic achievement.  Students in each grade can qualify for advanced academic classes in Math and Science as well as in ELAR (English Language Arts) and Social Studies.  WMS is a T-STEM designated campus. What this means that in addition to courses based in STEM the students can select as electives, the core classes use a variety of teaching strategies to present information to the students. To showcase their knowledge, students have the opportunity to give presentations, make projects, or create a movie among other student-centered assessments. Eighth grade students can take GTT I (Gateway to Technology) courses in design & modeling and automation & robotics.  Our students compete in UIL Academics and One-Act Play, as well as Athletic and Band competitions throughout the school year.  We have exceptional teachers and staff members who are energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated to the success of all students.

WMS encourages parents and community members to be involved in various events and activities at the school.  We have started the VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) program at WMS.  Parents can volunteer to serve on various committees during the school year. If you are interested in serving as a VIP, please call the school and let us know!

Middle School is an important transitional time in the lives of students as they build the bridge from elementary to high school.  It is important for the parents/guardians of a middle school student to talk with their child about their school day, maintain contact with their child’s teachers, and to review their child’s grades and attendance on the Parent Portal.

I look forward to working with each of you to ensure the success of our students.  Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, 254-981-2120, or email, dsnook@westisd.net. Go Trojans!!

Respectfully,
