WMS Choir
WORK HARD, PLAY HARD.
That's what we do here at Trojan Choir.
We are always striving towards the standard of excellence and pushing ourselves past the bounds of what we thought we could do, while encouraging and leaning on one another to reach those goals.
We are a new program, in our 3rd year already (I can't believe it!), and we have had so much fun working hard & trying new things. Every year we study many types of music, from modern pop to traditional choral works. In Middle School choir we learn the basics of reading music, vocal health & performance technique, as well as a bit of music history & the science of sound. There are opportunities for ensemble & solo work as well as festivals & competitions for those students who enjoy a challenge.
Truly the most exciting thing that happens is when a student joins our program, in faith, without any prior experience or knowledge, and is blown away by what they can achieve.
Many students walk in saying "I can't sing", I always respond, "Yes you can, you just haven't yet. Let's give it a chance." Because I know they can do it if they will simply work hard, trust themselves & trust me.
Our room is a culture, a safe space, a place we have to rely on each other, and sometimes that's hard.
It is a team sport.
I use sports analogies often, because athletics requires the same types of skills it takes to work together in a music ensemble. Perseverance, dedication, resilience, pulling your weight, and most of all... courage.
We have a lot of fun, we work really hard & I am their biggest cheerleader. I can't wait for this '24-25 year. I have some big ideas & I'm so excited to get started!!
