I teach 7th-grade reading, and this is my sixth year in education. I have the pleasure of working with students as they develop their literacy skills. My favorite part of the job is witnessing my students grow and build confidence not only as readers but also as critical thinkers. I love seeing the moment when a student connects with a text on a personal level and finds new ways to understand the world around them.
I am from Hillsboro, Texas and graduated from Grandview High School. My husband and I met while we were in college at Stephen F. Austin State University, Axe 'Em Jacks! We have two little boys who keep us busy, and in my free time, I love to get lost in a good book, play video games, and explore new restaurants because I'm a HUGE foodie.
Holes by Louis Sachar is one of my all-time favorite books! I have actually dressed up as Stanley Yelnats a few times when I taught 4th grade.
My goal is to foster a safe classroom environment where students feel empowered to take risks, share their ideas, and grow into thoughtful, lifelong readers.
